Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that feature. The provider processes the query and supplies its result. Tioga County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or direct message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain necessary correspondence. It is kept within the operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, routine server and analytics records may capture technical facts about the visit:

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Tioga County Criminal History does not create, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes routing information for Tioga County courts, the sheriff, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into third-party criminal profiles or consumer reports, and the site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention rules, and sharing practices govern information submitted to those tools. Review the selected provider's terms before sending a query because this policy does not control that processing.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Tioga County offices, New York courts and agencies, or outside services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking does not run as a Tioga County government service.

New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, governs access to government agency records and does not turn this private site into a public records custodian. Executive Law section 837 governs DCJS criminal-history administration. For information held by this site, a visitor may:

- Ask what personal information is retained
- Seek correction of inaccurate retained information
- Object to certain processing where applicable
